BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — For the fourth and final time this indoor season, the Hilltopper Track and Field squads are headed to Nashville, Tennessee, as the Red and White will compete in the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge on Friday and Saturday. Competition will begin at 4 p.m. CT on Friday and again at 10:00 a.m. CT Saturday morning inside the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.
Coming off a weekend of no events, WKU will participate in its final tune-up before the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Feb. 18-19. After racking up 14 event titles on the year, the Hilltoppers will look to adjust even more marks this weekend against another stout field of competition. Joining the WKU squad in Nashville this weekend are representatives from 21 Division I programs including: Belmont, Cincinnati, East Tennessee State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Illinois, Jacksonville, Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, SE Missouri State, SMU, South Alabama, Southern Illinois, Tennessee State, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
This marks the fourth time during the 2016-17 indoor season that the Erik Jenkins coached WKU squad will compete in Music City. Five of the 11 event titles claimed by the WKU men have been won at Vanderbilt-hosted events, with four of those crowns being won by Ventavius Sears. On the women’s side, one-third of the team’s event titles this season have been claimed in Nashville.
Twenty-one Hilltoppers are entered in weekend events on the men’s side while 17 Lady Toppers are schedule to compete as well.
Admission to the Vanderbilt Invitational is $7 per day for spectators. Visitors will be able to park for free in lot #75 directly across from the outdoor track. Live results for the meet can be found here.
