BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU has earned the No. 3 seed in next week’s Conference USA Women’s Soccer Tournament, its highest since becoming a member of C-USA in 2014, and will meet host Charlotte in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m. (CT).
All four quarterfinals matches will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 2, followed by the semifinals on Nov. 4 and the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 6. All quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be broadcast on C-USA TV, while the championship match will be carried on ESPNU from Charlotte’s Transamerica Field. The winner of WKU-Charlotte will advance to Friday’s semifinals to face the winner of Rice-UTEP.
The Lady Toppers closed the regular season with a 12-6-0 overall record and a 7-3-0 mark in C-USA play, while the 49ers closed the season 9-8-1 overall and 5-4-1 in conference matchups. The two sides did not meet during the regular season; WKU put together a 6-3-0 record against the two teams’ common opponents, and Charlotte went 5-3-1 against the shared competition.
The two teams have met twice in program history with both meetings coming since WKU joined C-USA. In 2014, Charlotte earned a 3-0 victory in Bowling Green, but the Lady Toppers returned the favor in a 3-1 win in Charlotte last season.
