BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — As the Hilltoppers prepare to host the first-ever Southeastern Conference opponent in Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium on Saturday, the WKU offense is preparing for one of the conferences most stout defenses, one which limited WKU to just 14 points and 246 yards last season.
“It’s going to be a challenge for us offensively,” said co-offensive coordinator Brian Brohm on Tuesday. “They’ll give us multiple looks and they are stout up front. We have to execute at a high level to be able to attack it.”
One of the ways the Hilltoppers will have to attack the Commodores offensively will be on the arm of junior quarterback Mike White. White threw for over 500 yards during his last game on Feix Field and the Hilltoppers will need a similar effort from the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native on Saturday.
“The first game, he came out on fire,” Brohm added. “He came out, hit every deep shot we called. He’s done a great job of making good decisions and executing the offense the way we want to. The last few games, we haven’t hit the shots as much as we would like so we have to get back to connecting on the deep balls.”
Saturday’s game is slated for a 3:30 p.m. CT kick off, and with tickets in high demand, gates to stadium will open two hours prior to kick off. As on Tuesday evening, fewer than 3,500 tickets remained for the game. Fans can purchase tickets online at WKUTickets.com and use the promo code “SELLOUTVANDY” to receive $5 off their ticket purchase.
