BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU had a bounce back game on defense against Old Dominion last weekend, and it was much needed for the Hilltoppers ahead of Saturday’s game at Florida Atlantic.
The game is set for a 2:30 p.m. CT kick off on the American Sports Network. Veteran broadcaster Mike Gleason and former NFL running back Doug Chapman will have the call. Locally in Bowling Green, WKU-PBS will air the game live with coverage also available in Louisville (WBNA), Lexington (WDKY), Paducah (WDKA) and Nashville (WNAB, WUXP).
Following Wednesday’s practice, defensive coordinator Nick Holt complimented the play of the Hilltopper defense.
“We played really good defense for the most part (against Old Dominion),” Holt said. “There were a couple busted plays that we will tweak and learn from. I thought we were physical and stopped the run against the league’s leading rush team. Our guys rose to the challenge and they played like I thought they would.”
Holt said his defense will need a similar effort on Saturday in Boca Raton to stop a similar attack, led by FAU running back Greg “Buddy” Howell.
“They’ve had a chance to do some good things. The offensive line is big, physical. They are a dangerous team and they do some good things.”
