BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Under first year head coach Seth Littrell, a disciple of the Mike Leach air raid offensive system, Saturday’s Senior Day opponent in North Texas is much improved offensively, something not lost on WKU defensive coordinator Nick Holt.
“I think they are doing some good things (offensively) and we respect them,” Holt said following Wednesday’s practice. “They have a good running back, their offensive line is blocking well, and their young quarterback can make all the throws. It’s another great challenge for us.”
One area where the Hilltoppers have been particularly strong at in the past, the turnover department, has not developed quite as well this year, and Holt stressed the importance of getting turnovers in the final games of the season.
“That area has been coming better in these last few weeks, but we need to continue in these last few games to get the ball out more. We’ve been good in that category but it has been a bit slow this year.”
Saturday’s game is slated for a 2:30 p.m. kick at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN 3 with a simulcast of the Hilltopper IMG Sports Radio Network with Randy Lee and Leo Peckenpaugh calling the action.
