DALLAS, Texas — WKU Football redshirt sophomore Tyler Witt has been named to the
2018 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Football All-Academic Team, the league
announced on Thursday.
It marks the second straight year in which the offensive guard has earned the
accolade. In total, six of the 11 C-USA student-athletes are repeat selections.
Witt, working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, boasts a 3.71 GPA and is
already a senior in academic standing. He has earned C-USA Honor Roll in three
semesters, as well as a WKU President’s List distinction with a 4.0 GPA in his other
semester on campus.
Witt played every one of the team’s 899 offensive snaps in 2018 and was called for
only two penalties. He ranked seventh among qualified C-USA offensive guards with a
PFF College rating of 67.8. Most notably, he earned C-USA Team of the Week honors
after his performance on Sept. 29 vs. Marshall with a PFF College rating of 82.1.
The Joliet, Ill., native was named a Team Captain for WKU’s Homecoming game vs. FIU
on Oct. 27. He leads all returning Hilltoppers with 18 consecutive starts, and is a
part of a WKU offensive line that will see every starter – and every letterwinner –
returning for the 2019 campaign.
