IRVING, Texas – For the third week this season, a pair of Lady Toppers have been
recognized by the Conference USA office for their impressive performances. Rachel
Anderson earned the Offensive Player of the Week nod while Taylor Bebout collected
was named the Setter of the Week.
Anderson was nothing short of incredible as the senior middle hitter led WKU to a
big 2-0 weekend on the road at UTEP and UTSA. The Sturgis, Mich., native tallied 17
and 19 kills in the matches, respectively for a total of 36 across seven sets for a
5.14 kills per set average. Not only did Anderson strike often, she was incredibly
efficient working at a .533 hitting rate with just four errors on 60 swings.
Anderson contributed defensively as well, racking up five solo blocks and three
block assists to average 1.14 blocks per set. The senior chipped in a pair of aces
along with four digs across the pair of victories. Anderson finished with 44.5
points (6.36 per set) on the weekend for the Lady Toppers. Finally, Anderson had
just one set across the entire weekend in which she had less than five kills.
Bebout posted arguably the best weekend of her career on the road trip to Texas. The
redshirt-freshman racked up 92 assists across just seven sets for an average of
13.14 assists per set. Bebout facilitated the WKU offense to a scorching .426
hitting clip in a three-set win at UTEP as the Decatur, Ind., native tallied 47
assists. In the Friday night tilt, 55.3-percent of Bebout’s sets found the floor for
kills by her teammates. She also added four digs, two aces and a kill from El Paso.
The Lady Toppers matched the 2018 Conference USA three-set match record with 57
collective kills. On Sunday, Bebout added 45 more helpers on top of four kills and
three digs while leading the WKU offense to a .290 rate.
WKU Volleyball is up to seven weekly honors on the 2018 campaign now with five
different Lady Toppers earning recognition. Anderson and Bebout have each collected
two awards on the season.
