BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU men’s basketball signee Mitchell Robinson has accepted an
invitation to this month’s 2017 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Cup Team training
Robinson, a 7-foot incoming five-star freshman center out of Chalmette (La.) High
School, is one of 28 of the nation’s top players age 19 and under who will head to
the camp June 18-25 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado
Invitations were issued by the USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee.
Athletes eligible for the team must be 19 years old or younger and U.S. citizens.
The training camp is set to begin at 6 p.m. CT June 18, with team finalists expected
to be announced following practices through June 20. The 12-member team is expected
to be announced June 22.
Robinson is one of 14 high school athletes headed to the camp, as well as one of six
McDonald’s All Americans and one of seven Naismith and MaxPreps All-Americans among

Robinson is the first McDonald’s All American in WKU history and the first from a
Conference USA school since Memphis’ Shaq Goodwin in 2012. He also competed in the
Jordan Brand Classic and received Naismith High School Boys’ All-American honorable
Robinson averaged 25.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and six blocks per game as a senior at
Chalmette and is ranked as the No. 8 prospect nationally in the 2017 class by
Rivals, Scout and 247Sports. He’s the Hilltoppers’ highest-ranked prospect during
the modern recruiting service era, as well as head coach Rick Stansbury’s
highest-ranked recruit during his 15 seasons as a head coach.
