COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women’s basketball team was selected to finish first overall in the Mid-South Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Lindsey Wilson earned a total of 47 points in the poll and six of the eight first-place votes. Last season the Blue Raiders finished tied for second in the MSC with a 10-4 conference record and went 28- 7 overall, reaching the NAIA National Championship Quarterfinals.
Campbellsville (Ky.) is behind Lindsey Wilson with 38 points in the poll and received one first-place vote. The Tigers were MSC Tournament runner ups last season.
The defending regular season and tournament champions Shawnee State (Ohio) was picked to finish third receiving 36 points and the last first-place vote. Pikeville (Ky.) comes in at fourth with 33 overall points.
Cumberland (Tenn.) is fifth in the poll with 30 points, followed by Cumberlands (Ky.) with 17 voting points.
Rounding out the poll is Georgetown (Ky.) with 16 points and Life (Ga.) with seven points in their first year of competition.
The Blue Raiders open up the 2016-17 season on Oct. 29 at Brescia (Ky.) in Owensboro, Ky., at 2 p.m. CT.
