COLUMBIA, Ky. – For the third-straight season, the Lindsey Wilson football team is headed to the NAIA Football Championship Series Playoffs as the national office announced the championship field of 16 and first round pairings on Sunday afternoon.
In a rematch of the 2015 FCS Playoff First Round matchup, Lindsey Wilson faces Grand View (Iowa), only this time the game takes place at Blue Raider Stadium in Columbia, Kentucky.
The Blue Raiders (10-1) received one of six at-large bids into the series and are making their third all-time appearance in the national postseason tournament. Lindsey Wilson’s lone loss on the year came to fellow national qualifier and Mid-South Conference West Division champion Reinhardt (Ga.).
Lindsey Wilson is 1-2 all-time in the playoffs and 1-0 at home.
The Vikings (9-2) earned a spot in the postseason after winning the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division and are making their fifth all-time appearance in the playoffs. Grand View’s two losses on the year came against fellow FCS qualifier Baker (Kan.) and Benedictine (Kan.).
Grand View is 6-3 all-time in national postseason competition and won the NAIA National Championship back in 2013.
In the 2015 FCS meeting between these two teams, Grand View used a last-second field goal to escape with the 16-13 victory over Lindsey Wilson.
Kickoff for the 2016 NAIA FCS Playoff First Round matchup between the Blue Raiders and Vikings is scheduled for noon CT at Blue Raider Stadium.
