DADE CITY, Fla. — WKU Lady Topper Golf shattered its previous records for 18- and
36-hole team scores Monday in the first two rounds of its own Spring Break
The Lady Toppers finished the day with a two-round total of 573 (280-293), seven
shots better than the previous program record for 36 holes of 580 set in this
season’s opening event, the USA Intercollegiate.
WKU opened the day with a 4-under 280 in the first round, six shots lower than the
previous 18-hole record of 286 at the 2018 UNF Collegiate.
The Lady Toppers are in third place as a team heading into Tuesday’s final round,
but just two shots behind first-place Troy and one shot back of co-host Florida Gulf
The tournament is being played at the par-71, 6,056-yard Lake Jovita Golf Club.
All five WKU golfers are currently in the top 25, led by junior Bailey Tyree in a
tie for seventh at 141 (68-73) – all career lows. Tyree’s first-round 68 ties for
the fourth-lowest single round in program history.
Sophomore Megan Clarke is tied for ninth with a two-round total of 142 (69-73),
while junior Mary Joiner is tied for 19th at 145 (72-73).
Junior Abigail Smee is tied for 21st at 146 (72-74), and freshman Lizzie Loy set new
career lows for 18 and 36 holes at 147 (71-76). She’s tied for 25th.
Sophomore Caroline Cavin is tied for 45th at 151 (76-75) while competing as an
Florida Gulf Coast’s Ailsa Clark leads the overall individual standings with a
5-under 137 mark.
Tuesday’s final round is slated to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
