IRVING, Texas — The latest victory in WKU golfer Mary Joiner’s recent hot streak
produced her third Conference USA Women’s Golfer of the Week award of the season
Joiner has won the C-USA weekly award in three of the last five weeks. No other
women’s golfer in the league has won multiple awards this spring.
The latest honor – the fifth of her career – came after the sophomore’s playoff win
last weekend at Eastern Kentucky’s Colonel Classic, her program-record fourth career
After finishing the final round tied with Akron’s Danielle Nicholson with an
even-par 144 (70-74) total, Joiner sank a 10-foot downhill birdie putt on the first
playoff hole to claim the win.
Joiner has won two of her last three events and finished in the top five in three of
the last four. She also won the individual title last month at the Spring Break
Shootout and finished third at the UNF Collegiate. She was named C-USA Golfer of the
Week for both efforts.
The Franklin, Ky., native also won two tournaments in fall 2016 as a freshman.
Joiner led the EKU tournament in par-4 scoring at 2 under and also tied for the
tourney lead with 30 total pars.
The Lady Toppers conclude their season at the Conference USA Championship on April
16-18 in Fort Myers, Fla.
