JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — WKU sophomore golfer Mary Joiner tied the second-best 54-hole
score in program history Tuesday, finishing third individually at North Florida’s
Joiner finished with a 4-under 212 (69-73-70) total at the par-72, 5,926-yard
Jacksonville Golf and Country Club, tying her own career low previously reached in
September at the USA Intercollegiate.
The 212 tally was just one stroke off Ellinor Haag’s program record of 211 set in
2014. Joiner now owns three of the top four 54-hole scores in Lady Topper history.
The Franklin, Ky., native went a combined 9 under on par-5s throughout the
tournament. This is the fourth top-three performance of her career.
“I played a really solid tournament,” said Joiner, who went a combined 9 under on
par-5s throughout the event. “I didn’t finish as well as I’d hoped, but there were
still a lot of positives to take away from this week. I’m proud of this team and
looking forward to our next chance to compete.”
WKU ultimately finished fifth as a team in a congested field. The Lady Toppers
finished with an 889 (286-300-303) score, only six strokes behind second-place
Chattanooga. Old Dominion won the title at 864.
Senior Katie Story tied for 12th for WKU with a 219 (68-75-76) total, tying her
career low. Freshman Megan Clarke tied for 35th at 227 (72-79-76).
Senior Georgina Blackman (77-76-81) and sophomore Bailey Tyree (78-76-82) finished
at 234 and 236, respectively.
The Lady Toppers stay in Florida next week as they host the Spring Break Shootout in
