BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Head football coach Tyson Helton announced the addition of
former Arkansas quarterback Ty Storey (Charleston, Ark.) to the Hilltopper football
program on Friday.
“We are excited to add Ty to our team,” Helton said. “His experience as a starting
quarterback in the Southeastern Conference adds a veteran presence to our roster,
and we are looking forward to continuing his development at the position this
Storey appeared in 14 career games for the Razorbacks including 10 in 2018 with nine
starts. On the season, Storey tallied 1,584 yards on 143-of-250 passing with 11
touchdowns. He also added 146 rushing yards and one rushing score.
He threw for a career-high 261 yards in his starting debut against Eastern Illinois
and eclipsed the 200-yard passing mark four times overall on the year including 230
yards against Alabama. The 31 points scored by the Razorbacks that day against the
Crimson Tide were the most allowed in the 2018 regular season by the eventual
Prior to joining the Razorbacks, Storey was a consensus four-star prospect by every
major recruiting outlet, and he was ranked as the No. 6 pro-style quarterback in the
nation by Rivals. Storey led Charleston High School to back-to-back perfect seasons
and a pair of Arkansas 3A state championships as a junior and a senior. Those marked
the second and third state championships for Storey who was also a freshman
linebacker when Charleston won the state championship in 2011. He ended his career
with 29 consecutive wins to go along with 12,856 passing yards and 154 touchdown
passes, the third-best and second-best marks, respectively, in the state’s prep
Storey was named a 2015 Parade All-American First Team at quarterback and was a
two-time winner for the Gatorade Arkansas Football Player of the Year award as well
as Wendy’s high School Football Player of the Year for Arkansas. As a senior, Storey
threw for 4,159 yards and 53 touchdowns on 294 of 447 passing while adding 724
rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns. His 73 total touchdowns are the fourth-most
in a single season in state history.
As a graduate of the University of Arkansas, Storey will have one season of
eligibility with the Hilltoppers and will enroll at Western Kentucky University as a
graduate student when the second bi-term begins on March 18.
The Hilltoppers open spring practice March 12 and will practice every Tuesday,
Thursday, and Saturday leading up to the Red vs. White Spring Game on April 13. All
practices are open to the public.
