The brackets are set for the 15th District tournaments. The tournaments begin the pursuit by area teams of a coveted state title, but first they must escape the first district game to reach the Fourth Region Tournament.
The girls’ tournament begins Feb. 20 at Barren County High School with No. 1 Monroe County – the top-rated girls’ team in the Fourth Region – against Allen County-Scottsville. The game tips at 6 p.m.
Monroe won two regular-season meetings 52-38 and 52-49. In the second meeting less than a week ago, the Lady Patriots led much of the way, but the Lady Falcons hit a late basket to secure the win. Monroe played without starting forward Ashlee McGeorge, who is a Campbellsville University commit.
The second game Feb. 20 features the host Trojanettes against Glasgow. The game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m.
In two previous meetings, Glasgow won 52-46 on Dec. 30 and 56-51 a month later. In both games, Barren led early, but the Lady Scotties were able to pull away in the final minutes.
The girls’ championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 23.
The boys’ 15th District Tournament begins Feb. 21 with host Barren County against Glasgow. The top-seeded Trojans shellacked the Scotties twice during the regular season, 61-51 and 66-40. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
Monroe County and Allen County-Scottsville play in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. The teams split their regular season meetings. The Falcons won 68-51 on Jan. 7, while the Patriots won last week, 63-60.
The championship game is set for 7 p.m. on Feb. 24.
