Travis Hudson lands on USA Jr. National Team coaching staff

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Veteran WKU Volleyball head coach Travis Hudson has been
selected as an assistant coach to the USA Women’s Junior National Training Team
(WJNTT) as the squad gears up for the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World

Due to scheduling conflicts, Hudson will be limited to assisting the team during its
training block at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs from July 2-7
before the squad wraps up training and heads to the World Championship event in Boca
del Rio and Cordoba, Mexico.

Competition will commence July 14 and wrap up on July 23. The U.S. qualified for the
World Championship by winning gold at the 2017 Women’s U20 Pan American Cup in San
Jose, Costa Rica.

Laurie Corbelli, the head coach at Texas A&M, will serve as head coach for the 2017
U.S. Women’s Junior National Team at the FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship. She
will be assisted by Blake Rawlins, head trainer at Top Select Volleyball Academy,
and Jay Van Vark, assistant coach at Grand Canyon University in addition to Hudson.

The invitation marks Hudson’s first involvement with the WJNTT. He joins fellow WKU
coach Michelle Clark-Heard as Hilltopper leaders involved with the U.S. junior
national team in their respective sports. Clark-Heard represented the United States
as an assistant coach at the 2015 Pan American Games, helping to lead USA Basketball
to a silver medal in her international coaching debut. The Lady Topper Basketball
head coach will also serve as an assistant coach for the U23 National Team at the
Four Nations Tournament in Japan in August.

In his 22 seasons on The Hill, Hudson has etched his name into the record books as
he has led the Lady Topper volleyball program to a 559-199 record in that span.
Hudson has directed the Red and White to all 10 of their NCAA Tournament appearances
including trips to The Dance in six of the past seven seasons. With Hudson at the
helm, WKU Volleyball has claimed 13 regular season conference titles and eight
conference tournament championships including all six possible crowns since joining
Conference USA.
