WKU enters this weekend series with a 19-18 overall record and a 3-6 mark in C-USA play. UAB comes to The Hill with an 11-20 record in the 2017 season and an even 3-3 record in league action. The Blazers beat Southern Miss and UTSA (twice) in Conference USA games while the Hilltoppers swept Middle Tennessee in enemy territory.
This, WKU and UAB have played several common opponents. Both the Hilltoppers and the Blazers each beat Samford and Murray State while falling to the Oklahoma and Lipscomb squads.
Entering the weekend series, the sides have faced each other six times since both programs began in 2000. The all-time series is currently knotted at 4-4. The last time the Hilltoppers met the Blazers was in 2015 when WKU clinched a 3-1 victory over UAB.
The Hilltopper squad continues to lead the conference in many offensive statistical categories. At the plate, WKU has been hit by a pitcher 54 times for the most free bases by a team in the conference; Taylor Proctor and Brittany Vaughn have combined for 29 of those tallies. The Red and White also lead the league in home runs with 30, already surpassing the 2016 season total.
Following this weekend’s conference series, the Hilltoppers will head back on the road to face No. 16 Kentucky in Lexington for a mid-week matchup on Wednesday, April 5.
